The Prison Ministry of Ghana (PMG) successfully held its Ordinary Board of Trustees Meeting on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at the ARC Hall of Accra Ridge Church. The meeting brought together high-level representatives of PMG’s partner churches, as well as members of the Ministry’s Executive Committee, to deliberate on key matters relating to the governance and future direction of the Ministry.

The meeting was chaired by Rev. S. S. Asieni of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana.

A major focus of the meeting was the ongoing review of the Prison Ministry of Ghana Constitution, which has guided the Ministry since 1997. The review process has been underway for the past four years and seeks to enhance the Constitution’s relevance, ensure compliance with current legal requirements, improve operational effectiveness, and strengthen the inclusion and participation of PMG’s partner churches and organisations.

PMG’s National Legal Advisor, Mrs. Amelia Croffie, led the Board through the draft revised Constitution and facilitated discussions on the proposed changes. The meeting provided an important opportunity for representatives of partner churches and organisations to consider the document and contribute to the process of strengthening the Ministry’s governance framework.

The Board also received a brief report on the activities and work of the Prison Ministry of Ghana from 2019 to 2026, highlighting the Ministry’s work and developments over the period.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the election of Rev. Enoch Thompson of the Ghana Baptist Convention as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Rev. Thompson subsequently accepted the responsibility and addressed members of the Board.

Partner churches represented included Accra Ridge Church, represented by Mr. Alfred Ayer, who stood in for the Chairman of the Council; Royalhouse Chapel, represented by Pastor Ben Addae; Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International–Gateway Chapter, represented by Mr. Israel Agbeti; Ghana Baptist Convention, represented by Rev. Enoch Thompson; Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, represented by Rev. S. S. Asieni; Korle-Bu Community Chapel, represented by Rev. Felix Kwabena Boansi; Lighthouse Chapel International, represented by Mr. Dan Opare; Christ Castle International, represented by Ps. Michael Asare Adjoka; and Kingsway International Christian Centre, represented by Mr. Samuel Obu.

Representing the Prison Ministry of Ghana were the Executive Director, Mr. Akumfi Ameyaw Buanya; National Leader, Rev. Fr. Prof. Kwamena Sagoe; National Legal Advisor, Mrs. Amelia Croffie; National Secretary, Prof. Grace Parkins; and National Treasurer, Mr. Alfred Ayer, who also represented Accra Ridge Church at the meeting.

PMG expressed its appreciation to all partner churches for making time to participate in the meeting and for their continued commitment to the work of the Ministry. Their involvement remains important to PMG’s mission of ministering to persons in prison and supporting rehabilitation, reintegration and restoration.
