REHABILITATION OF RICE MILLER AT AKUSE PRISONS

The Akuse Prisons operated an old, decrepit Type 3B 10 rice miller. The over 35-year old miller frequently broke down, and could mill not more than 20X50 kg bags of rice a week.
During a visit to the Station by a PMG team on Monday 24th September, 2023 which included the Executive Director and the International Director, attention was drawn to this piece of machinery.
The Officer-In-Charge, ADP Alhaji Ousmane Tasembedo made a passionate appeal to PMG to make good their earlier promise to provide a new miller.

Subsequently, funds have been secured, a new miller (Type 5B 30) acquired, installed and successfully test-run over a week beginning 29th October, 2023. The new miller has a capacity of up to 80X50 kg bags per day, a dramatic improvement to the previous production capacity.

Added to this a new fuel injection pump has been fixed on the Station tractor attached to the rice farm. Rice farming and milling operations can now proceed smoothly.
Commissioning the project, the Executive Director, with emphasis, stated that great care be exercised in the maintenance thereof.
