Venue: Roman Catholic Church Farmers’ Training Centre, Posei Namongo, Bolgatanga
Date: 16th
– 17th September, 2022
Attendance: 21 members of the Ministry plus 10 others participated. It is noteworthy that
membership comprised Roman Catholics (majority), Anglican, Presbyterians (PCG and EP),
Baptists and other Evangelicals as well as Charismatics, a truly ecumenical gathering.

Key note address:
The keynote address was delivered by the Anglican Bishop of Tamale, Bishop Denis Tong, who
also opted to become a member of the Ministry. This was a well-researched and carefully thought-out presentation on what is, and why, a revival is needed. He further gave advice on the way
forward for the Ministry. This very important document is reproduced verbatim as Appendix “A”.
He pledged his Church’s active support and involvement in the affairs of the Ministry.

Branch report:
Attached as Appendix “B” is the report for 2019-2022.
Executive Director’s address: (Appendix “B”)
The first part gave a comprehensive outline of the Ministry’s activities since the last National
Retreat at Abokobi in 2019. Current issues as well as future projections were shared for
information and discussion.
The second part covered the now essential document on “The DOs and DONTs of prison ministry”
prepared by Chaplain-General Canon Adama Okine (ADP) of the Prisons Service.
Ghana Prisons Service Regional Commander:
The Regional PRO read the Commander’s goodwill address. The Regional Chaplain of Ghana
Prisons Service also led a praise and worship session.

Group Discussions:
The meeting broke into two groups to undertake in-depth study of the various reports and make
recommendations there on. The reports on these discussions are set out in Appendix “C” also
attached to this report.

ELECTION OF BRANCH EXECUTIVES:
Members elected new Branch Executives to steer their affairs for the next two (2) years as follows:
Chairman: Rev. Roger Wegurih
Vice chairman: Apostle Bayou Ernest
Secretary : Elder George Ankrah
Treasurer : Moot Ebenezer
Organizer : Addy Samuel Brown

Trustees:
i) Chaitey M. Meryi
ii) Evangelist Matthew Gumah
The Regional Executives and Trustees were inducted into office by the PCG District Minister for
Navrongo, Rev. Collins Kumador.

Prayer Session:
Led by the Projects Coordinator of the Ministry, WO1 Eric Larweh, it focused on the activities
and programmes of the Ministry as well as the welfare of the members, the inmates and the
officers. Prayer was also made for the unification of all church prison ministries under the umbrella
of the Prison Ministry of Ghana.
Closing: The Retreat closed at 14:40 hrs on 17-09-2022. It was agreed that the next regional retreat
will be held two years hence.
